It struck me, at the time, as sounding different from everything being played on that station.

Having said that, I remember the very first time I heard I Will Follow.

I think that every U2 album is worthwhile (with the possible exception of Pop), but the first few have still never grabbed me. It was only then that I started listening to the older albums with a different ear. I rediscovered the band when Actung Baby was released. I married a huge U2 fan who brought all of the old CDs into the relationship. After a while U2 just got too popular & I stopped paying attention. I liked all of the singles very much but never took to the albums. My brother got all of the albums as they came out. I Will Follow is a general live staple for them. Out of Control made a few appearances last year live, as well as snippets of Stories for Boys and The Ocean. I voted for Out of Control by the way, but it was hard to choose between it, An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart as well as I Will Follow and Electric Co. from the same show.another phenomenal performance. Here's a link of U2 performing An Cat Dubh/Into the Heart in Chicago in 2005.an absolutely fantastic performance. These are must see clips of BOY-era material performed on the Vertigo tour last year.
A day without me u2 performance how to#
A lot of their new songs from HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB fit that mold (what with family health scares/family deaths in the band, post 9/11, etc.).so both albums worked well in that sense. They tied this old material in very well on the Vertigo tour last year.they revisited a lot of BOY since an underlying theme of the Vertigo tour was all about trying to find that lost innocence of yesteryear. Great theme that never grows old.waking up at 18 and seeing all the things out there, paired with a theme of loss of innocence/yearn to keep that innocence.
